Desktop Search helps you find an item on a busy Snapshot desktop. When a workspace holds many Metadata Snapshots and Developer Projects, Desktop Search lists all of them in one table so you can jump straight to the item you need instead of panning across the canvas.

Opening Desktop Search
- Click the search button at the upper right of the Snapshot desktop, or
- Choose Desktop Search from the Snapshot menu.
Finding an item
- Review the table of desktop items. Each row shows the item name, the Salesforce username, the created date, and the item type.
- Use the sort menu to sort by item name, by username, or by created date.
- Type in the Quick Find box to filter the table to matching items.
- Select the item you want and click OK.
The dialog closes and the selected item blinks on the desktop, ready to use. If you click OK without selecting a row, Snapshot asks you to select a desktop item first.
Tips
- On a shared workspace, sort by username to find the snapshots a particular team member created.
- Sort by created date to find an older Developer Project or backup snapshot.
- To keep a large desktop organized in the first place, group related items into desktop folders.
