Desktop folders let you group related Snapshot items into their own window. A folder works like a small sub-workspace: inside a folder you can create Metadata Snapshots, Developer Projects, and the deployment arrows that connect them. Folders save space on the main desktop and keep separate projects, release cycles, or reporting work apart from each other.

Creating and using a folder
- Select the Folder tool on the Tool Palette and click the desktop to create a folder.
- Double-click the folder to open the folder window.
- Add snapshots, projects, and deployment arrows inside the folder window just as you would on the main desktop.
Folder Info settings
Open Folder Info for a folder to change the folder name, tooltip, and window size:
- Folder Name: Required. The name must be unique on the workspace.
- Tooltip: Text shown when someone hovers over the folder icon. Use the tooltip to explain what the folder holds, which helps teammates on a shared workspace.
- Horizontal and Vertical Window Size: The size of the folder window in pixels. Each dimension must be at least 500 and no more than 100,000 pixels. Make the window large enough for all of the items and arrows you plan to place inside.
Click OK to save the settings.
Ideas for using folders
- One folder per release cycle, holding the snapshots and arrows for that release.
- A folder for sandbox seeding work, with the arrows used to build and migrate datasets.
- A folder for scheduled reporting, so monitoring items stay separate from deployment work.
