The Managed Package Report is an extremely useful way to see all of the customization surrounding your managed packages. You will find it under the Documents menu. It shows every managed package down the left side of the screen; select any one of them to see all of the connections between your org and the package, and between the package and your org — in other words, every integration point for that managed package.
The report uses Snapshot's impact analysis engine to calculate these connections. That work is computationally massive, so a really big package can take some time to run — but what you get in return is a complete picture of the connections and customizations for the package.
The three-column report
When you select a package, you get a three-column report:
- Left column — unpackaged assets that reference your managed package.
- Middle column — all of the assets inside your managed package.
- Right column — the unpackaged assets that those packaged assets reference.
Read it left to right: the first column references the second column, and the second column references the third. For example, a custom object in the package called HS Filter might reference both the Account and Contact objects; page layouts from the package might reference other standard fields; and packaged permission sets might reference other standard objects.
Color coding
The report color-codes the integration points so they stand out at a glance:
- Green — standard assets that have been customized by the managed package, such as fields the package added to the Account and Contact objects.
- Red — a field that was added to one of the objects inside the package.
Analyzing multiple packages and exporting
As with all Salesforce reports in Snapshot, simply check the boxes of the packages you want to analyze and open the Display Report tab to see information on all of the selected packages at once. All of this information can be saved to your desktop in a variety of formats.
The Managed Package report shows you all of the integration points between your org and any Managed Package.
